Alternative 3
Request the K.C to join another group. Or move to another group
- Advantage
The rest of the members will not suffer from the shoddy work which was poorly done by the K.C in their assignment.
- Disadvantage
This alternative will give inconvenience to K.C because he would need to find new group to complete his group assignment and it will also waste his time.
Alternative 4
To keep the group harmony maintained, the others group members can assist the K.C in editing and completing his group work.
- Advantage
It will generate the feeling of cooperation among the group members and their group performance will not suffer from any unethical issue.
- Disadvantage
This practice will encourage the K.C to be more dependent on his group members for his group work and he might neglect to perform well in third project as well which has weighted of 20%.
Recommended course of actions
- T.J must inform this issue to his class teacher because it is serious issue. Apart from this, if anyone of the group member commits plagiarism in his group project, the entire group will be accountable for such act.
- T.J must get the opinion of each group member to solve this issue and it will not affect the harmony of the group.
- T.J must use the “Right to be fair” this means that every student is imparted knowledge about the plagiarism policy when they start their study in any particular university or college. So T.J must ask the group the member to use their right and be fair in their work.
- T.J have to identify the situation why this problem happened and make sure that whether this attempt was intentionally or K.C really does not how to cite the data sources.
- To give second chance to K.C if it is possible to rectify his work again.
CONCLUSION
A fair work is always considered a key component of good assignment. However, we all know that copying the ideas of someone else without giving him reasonable credit is also considered a big crime under the copy right act. So it is the responsibility of the all the group member to use someone’s ideas in their own language and cite the data source which they have used for their assignment. So we personally feel that T.J must go with the alternative 1 and recommendation 1 because it is a legal issue and its consequences could be more worsen. So it is highly recommendable to inform this issue to class professor because it will be the more safer side for the rest of the members.
