HISTORY

Wal-Mart is an American company that is engaged in retail, its founders were Sam and James L. Walton, starting with its first store in 1962, in the city of Rogers, Arkansas.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc, began its internationalization strategy in Mexico in 1991, Wal-Mart entered through a joint venture with Cifra group, forming the Figure-Walmart group. In early 2002 Wal-Mart Stores Inc. acquired full control of the group becoming Wal-Mart Mexico, WALMEX.

As Wal-Mart is growing in new markets, it has not been taken off of its organizational culture. When a customer comes to any Wal-Mart, in any of the nine countries where it operates, you can be sure to get low prices and enjoy a genuine customer service. Their culture is based on the customer feel at home in any department of any store anywhere.

The founders of Wal-Mart were told their employees to practice "aggressive hospitality" which meant being more attentive, helpful with customers, kind, etc. for the customer feel good. A very important aspect within Wal-Mart is that you want each store, depending on where it is located, reflects the values ​​and culture of the inhabitants of that place.

MISSION

Wal-Mart's mission is established being the best store retailer with a great assortment of high quality and low prices both in the US, which has the largest number of branches, as in any of the nine countries where it has operations.

Wal-Mart as a company is based on 3 basic premises created by Sam Walton in 1962, these are:

Cross-docking is a practice of key logistics Walmart's strategy to replenish inventory efficiently. It refers to the direct transfer of goods from a truck input to another output, without using extra storage.

The suppliers deliver their products in Walmart distribution centers, where they are transferred to another truck, which will be responsible for delivering them to stores. Cross-docking maintains reduced inventory and transportation costs also reduces transport times and eliminating inefficiencies.

The use of this practice avoids keeping inventory stand for long periods of time; because the products are shipped by suppliers to warehouses and then automatically are re-shipped to stores. This process, usually done in 24 hours or less.
