1. Experimentation

Once the model and the user interface were finished, the experimentation stage started. Seven strategies were simulated in different situations. Three of those strategies were suitable for those airports where just one door of the aircraft could be used. The remaining four were appropriated for those in which both front and rear door could be used. In this section, the boarding strategies, the flight profiles and the experiments that were carried out are described.

1. Strategies

The selection of the strategies was based on company’s decisions. So, although much more strategies were described in the literature, most of them were not suitable and were excluded from the study. The constraints imposed by Company were:

* The number of groups in which the aircraft could be divided was four at the most. The reason for this limitation is the idea of not modifying the current system of dividing the passengers in four groups when they check in. Many of the theoretically faster
