Implementation of Recommended Proposal

In order to implement the new process, an electronic system will need to be agreed upon by both parties. The software will need to track POS transactions to give immediate feedback for production and shipping. Securing a deal with a parcel delivery service for custom orders will need to be implemented quickly to keep direct to customer transport costs down. Developing relationships with other retailers to adopt a comparable system will be essential keep growing. The will ensure that there is a safety barrier outside of HomeHelp. To keep production of the staple products available for on demand service, dropping the miniblinds production will need to start transitioning once the new system is in place.

What are the major business propositions for Woodmere and HomeHelp to consider in evaluating this proposal? Is time-based logistics the right strategy for each company?

The major business proposition to consider is if the transition to a time-based system will prosper business. The time-based model appears to be the proper path forward given that other partnerships are made as to not rely on one company partnership.

Appendix B

Per Hanlin (1990) Time-based competitors concentrate on how they manage time in all of their business activities. They eliminate or improve activities. They eliminate or improve activities which are time-wasteful. Consequently, time-based competitors are much more responsive to volatile market conditions than their competitors. They also have the ability to provide a more timely flow of products and/or services to their customers.
