overcome. If I can overcome these obstacles, I will not only succeed in America, but also in China. World is becoming flatter and more international. Chinese companies also start to seek multilanguage talents who can work in a diverse environment. To achieve this, I need to take part in more events held by Business School like club activities, networking events and career fairs.
One interesting result in ‘My Skills’ sector is that I give myself a surprisingly low score on Quantitative Analysis. A score of 47 only exceeds 24% of other people. In ‘My Interests’ section, Quantitative Analysis is my top interest. The explanation can either be that I am not confident in myself or I need more training on quantitative. Confidence doesn’t come from nowhere. Confidence comes from preparation. Business School offers wide range of professional finance courses. It also offers many great quantitative courses. If I make the best use of my study, I can acquire sufficient knowledge and data analysis skills. The more prepared I am, the more confident I will be. Hard skill, or professional knowledge, is always the most important part of recruitment. We should never postpone study plans because of networking or club events.
To restate and sum up my career plan, I want to enter Investment Banking after graduation, and transfer to Venture Capital afterwards. My ambition into Venture Capital is always there. I love entrepreneurship, talking with creative people, and helping others. I have interned in PE/VC department of Fosun right before I come to Business School. I loved my research about innovative ideas from start-up companies and enjoyed every talk with entrepreneurs. I have never doubted about Venture Capital as a long-term career goal. Selecting an entry level is hard. From my reflection of Career Leader report and life in America, I choose Investment Banking as the starting point. This is a bold choice. I definitely need more efforts to build up my competitiveness.
Don’t be afraid, don’t panic and don’t wait. Business school life is humbling, but great opportunities are all out there waiting for me. Seize them to get myself better prepared. I am here to study, to grow and secure a great job. With thorough planning, reflection, and preparation, entering my dream places, which are Investment Bank and Venture Capital firm, will come true eventually.
