Physical Environment

There are obvious opportunities that aided Netflix’s continued success demographically and technologically. A major component that offers Netflix its greatest opportunity is its capability to expand into households. This content can also be utilized to expand into international markets as well. The ability to possibly crossover from broadcast TV to internet TV will lead to widespread availability. These opportunities, can construct a competitive edge that will separate Netflix from the competition and accept expansion both locally and internationally.

Political Stability

A political system’s two proportions “are interrelated; systems that emphasize collectivism tend toward totalitarianism” (Hill, 2009). Of course certain individuals would have their doubts regarding Netflix and its influence on its country. Recently, Netflix and its competitors are beginning to be heavily scrutinized. Netflix has formed a political action committee, called FLIXPAC, and the committee may now make contributions donations directly to federal candidates — up to $5,000 per election (Levinthal, 2012). There are many politicians that do not understand the nature and fundamentals of the digital world and want to control the way people access the data for everyday use. This provides Netflix with another political tool with which to aggressively press a pro-intellectual property, anti-video piracy agenda — an effort it began in earnest in 2010, when the company began heavily investing in federal lobbying efforts (Levinthal, 2012). This is a tool that will allow them to have a voice and be heard regarding political matters.
