The hospital also pays attention to ambulance services and is equipped with an Emergency Unit for evacuation purposes. HTAR also is a house of medical teaching and provide facilities to the medical students of the University of Malaya.
Despite the existence of a new hospital like Hospital Putrajaya, Serdang Hospital and Selayang Hospital, hospital statistics show an increase in the number of admissions to hospital every year.
This hospital provided a service to residents especially in Klang District. HTAR also provides specialized services to cases referred from the Hospital Banting, Tanjung Karang, Sabak Bernam and slate as well as private clinics and private medical centers.

3.2 History
Klang District Hospital was built in the 1890s at a top of hillock close to government buildings and trade. Starting in 1st January, 1976, these hospitals have been upgraded to General Hospital, Klang and headed by a Superintendent of Schools.
According to a statistics in 1901, a total of 2,789 outpatients and 1,822 in patients were treated in this hospital. At that time, cases of diarrhea and respiratory diseases are the key cases treated in this hospital.
Due the patient increased and the need to accommodate the growing number of patients as well as to introduce new services, a new hospital was built on an area of 25.5 hectares at a cost of RM68.5 million. The hospital was named by General Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah and grand opening was officially launched by His Majesty Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Alhaj son of the late Sultan Alam Shah Al-Haj on 2nd September 1985. The 9-storey hospital building is located 3 kilometres from the center town of Klang. This name was later changed to the Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah in year 1993. The Health Minister at the time was Dato ’Chin Hon Ian.
The transfer of patients to hospital began in April 1985. Since May 1, 1985, all medical services are managed in the hospital except services for TB patients and psychiatry, which is located in the old hospital site. At the outset it has 27 wards and 750 beds and has now been increased to 29 wards and 831 beds. The hospital is now led by the Hospital Director, Deputy Director (Medical), Deputy Director (Surgical) and Deputy Director (Management).

A total of 5,000 employees working in Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Klang consist of Specialist, Medical Officer, Assistant Medical Officer, Houseman, Supervisors, Nurses, Administration and Management staff.

4.0 AUTOMATED ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE SYSTEM THAT HAS BEEN INSTALLED
4.1 Human Resource Information System (HRMIS)
Every organization must have their own Human Resource Department in order to manage all staffs data including personal record management, performance management, competency assessment, remuneration, benefit and reward management and etc. Previously, in government sector everything was done manually. But nowadays the government was implementing the Human Resource Management Information System (HRMIS) in order to make everything easy and paperless. The Government is committed to improving the effectiveness and efficiency of Human Resource Management (HRM) by using information and communication technology (ICT) through the development of the latest Government Flagship Electronics.
In line with this, human Resource Management Information System (HRMIS) was implemented as one of the pilot projects under the e-Government applications. The entire module in the HRMIS applications can be access anywhere and at any time. Everything was done through the system. Application design and technical architecture HRMIS has guaranteed integrity and security access information that any addition, amendment or repeal of the data cannot be done without the permission of the person responsible. In addition PSM processes facilitated through the workflow settings according to the roles and responsibilities of officers.
