Qualities
Managers and leaders are different in terms of personal qualities. They have different qualities that make them unique in terms of managing and leading the people. One of the unique characters of the manager is to be rational, under control problem solvers. More than that, they focus on structure, goals, personnel and the availability of the resources (Draft, 2014). These qualities make managers different from the leaders. In addition to that, the manager’s personalities are persistence, they have a strong will, analysis, and intelligence.
In the case of the leaders, their qualities become unique as they have the capability to innovate. Besides, they have the capability to inspire trust (Prive, 2012). Unlike the managers with a short range of perspectives, leaders have a long range of perspective (Draft, 2014). Additionally, they are often referring to as brilliant and mercurial because of their exceptional charisma. However, leaders are often perceived as loners and private people. Despite the negative perception regarding leaders, they are comfortable taking risks because of their high level of imagination.
Outcomes
Both leaders and managers are also different when it comes to outcomes. Managers are more focus on achievement, while leaders are focused on the results of their actions and decisions. Managers and leaders have different perception. They perceived the outcomes in different approaches. For an instance, managers preferred to count values from their achievement. In the case of leaders, they are focus on creating value and generates value over and above the team creates from the result of their decision (Draft, 2014).
