-happier employees means more success for the camp
Disadvantages
-costs lots of money
-takes lots of time to implement a rewards system
The second issue that has to be address is creating a clear and concise interview process. This issue needs to be addressed before the next camping season. A formal interview process with several steps needs to be created with a series of test incorporated. A personality test, as well as scenario questions would give super staff an idea of the type of employee a person would be.
Advantages
-employers would receive a better idea what an employee would be like
-employees would receive a better idea what an employer is looking from them
-focuses on the specific skills needed
Disadvantages
-takes time to create an appropriate questionnaire
-takes more time to conduct formal interviews than informal ones
The third issues that needs to be addressed is creating a more engaging training process. Currently the pre-camp is based around a 75-page manual and is monotonous. To engage the staff, Camp Happy Valley needs to create a new plan training program that allows the employees to interact with one another, create relationships, and learn the required information, but allows them to have fun and move around.
Advantages
-allows employees to engage with one another in a fun environment
-will set the tone for how their experience throughout the summer should be
-not as boring
Disadvantages
-takes time to create a whole new training program
-employees may still not engage in the program, it is hard to motivate teenagers to contribute and participate
The fourth and final issue that needs a solution is increasing the number of campers that are enrolling. This is an issue that can be a long term goal. Right now, Camp Happy Valley is using word of mouth as their primary source of advertisement, however the use of other advertising techniques could be really beneficial. Billboards, newspaper or magazine ads, and commercials can be very persuasive when trying to get your point across.
Advantages
-seen/heard by a broad scope of people
- localized
-people don’t have to go out of their way to learn about Camp Happy Valley, they can see it on a billboard or hear it on the radio while driving
- 71% of North Americans admitted that a billboard has attracted them to an event or restaurant, while 56% of these North Americans have later discussed the board due to its eye catching appeal
Disadvantages
-Expensive
-the possibility of not reaching the specified audience
