Item Presentation:

Babel is a film directed By Alejandro Gonzales Iñárritu a Mexican filmmaker and wrote by Guillermo Arriaga, the first release was in Cannes to date of 23th may of 2006.

The author said;” The fear and bad feelings are universal… But the hope too; The film criticizes the conflicts that separate humanity”.

Arguments and Opinions:

Babel is a film that shows four different experiences from people of different cultures but these stories intertwine and I could find that all people around the word are similar, Its not important the different cultures, the religions and politic. All people have the same needs, but the hope to get out of these too. The idiom doesn’t matter or the place where somebody born, all people are human and have the same feelings, all people make mistakes.

I have a lot of teachings of the film, for example, I watched at the film that the most important thing in the life of a person is their family, because in the four stories, the characters put in first place the love for their families. The film shows the racism too, because we can watch the superiority that have developed countries like U.S.A.

I could identify that all regions and cultures around the world have different dialects thanks to the ethnic diversity and the different origin of each territories at the world, but I think that the language doesn’t matter to communicated with another person, for example Chieko was deaf-mute, but she could express her feelings.

Item Development:

I think that the film shows that the family is first because in different situations the characters don’t import if they would be problems, they put first the family, for example when the Mexican babysitter left U.S.A with the American Childs because she need to go to the wedding of her son (24 min), or when The Moroccan child who gave in to the police because he wanted to save his brother life (1 hour, 40 minutes).

The film shows racism and discrimination too, for example the American boy said that his mom tells him that Mexico was a dangerous places (31min) or when the American woman said to her husband that he shouldn´t drink water on Morocco, because It would be dangerous for him health (15min, 40sec).
