When you filter your Year and Product Categories, the map should adjust. However, we want all 3 charts to adjust using the same filters. Apply the Year and Product Category filters to all the worksheets. Test it to make sure it works!
3). Finally, the store wants you to highlight a specific issue that you found from your data analysis and “dig deeper”, and then tell a Story to a specific stakeholder(s). Your Story should have a problem area backed by the data and your analysis, followed by a “solution” to address it.
Add a new Story worksheet. When creating your “story” consider your specific role and the stakeholder’s specific role [these may or may not be assigned by your professor].
- Give it a meaningful name.
- Add a title for your Story.
- Each point in your story should have a meaningful caption and description.
How do you find specific issues that need to be investigated further? One way is to select any area of your dashboard that you just created (e.g., a big problem area), then add that as a filter to explore further. For example, there could be specific problem product areas, product items, regions, states, customers, timeframes, etc. There are also variables we didn’t cover in parts 1 & 2 that may be interesting to explore, such as Order Priority and Shipping Costs.
[If time allows or REQUIRED BY YOUR PROFESSOR] A Tableau story allows you to insert any worksheet or dashboard. Therefore, the store wants you to create/add at least one new worksheet and dashboard in addition to the ones you did for Parts 1 & 2.
Finally, be creative! For example, you can also add images and websites to a dashboard and then read that in to your Story, perhaps as part of your solution.
