healthcare. He states, that only the childhood obesity costs $14.1 billion a year with average health expenses costing over $6,000 per obese child. In addition to direct cost, there are indirect costs related with obesity, according to Trevir, this obesity epidemic also decreases work productivity, high workers’ compensation claims, and lower earnings. He also explains that obesity continues to negatively affect the health of Americans, and the damages and cost attached consist of increased health care costs, decreased productivity and premature deaths.
Furthermore, Roza Selimyan, Scientish, Heath and Science Educator, published an article in the huffington post website titled “To End Obesity Epidemic” on June 8, 2014. Here she talked about our efforts to stop and reverse obesity trends, are not being successful and we should do something about it. She suggest efficient strategies such as; raising the minimum wage to a level that allows a person to obtain healthy food, educating health care professionals and the general public about various aspects of a healthy lifestyle, investing in promoting prevention, taking measures on various levels for improving quality of food available in the stores, holding companies to standards that assure better food quality, and more. According to Roza, there are many factors that contribute fighting obesity.
Research Methods
The objective of my research is to evaluate the causes, effects and strategies that should be used to solve this epidemic disease in the United States, which is obesity. I am going to search for information that identifies to what extend it affects the country, and the different measures to end or prevent this disease, obesity.
For this paper, I will conduct mostly secondary research, where all the sources will be taken from the Internet and will be considered viable and accurate from experienced people, and well-known health care organizations, in regards to the subject. All my research is going to be documented in Microsoft Word using my computer.
I will allow myself 9 days to make all the research, which in my opinion is enough time, in order to come up with different perspectives on the subject, different point of views that will allow us to understand what are the right measures to answer the research question.
