Now, let us say there is an instance where someone realistically could only eat from fast food chains while an adult is away. Do they automatically become the overweight, diabetic kids Zinczenko claims they will from walking through those golden arches of Mcdonalds? Back in middle school I can recall a teacher showing us just hoe untrue this was by showing us the documentary film, “portion Size me”. This short film follows every meal two college students consume for an entire month. The results were shocking with both young adults losing weight and improving their overall health just by following simple guidelines while choosing their meals. But these companies the two ate at weren’t rewarded for bettering their lives, so why should they pay out of their pockets for people miss using their products?

Being obese or even slightly overweight in today’s society is no easy thing to deal with. Coping with such a setback could be traumatic. From people bullying the larger members of the American population, to the serious health risk one might face, it’s hard to deal with. Looking at others to place blame for something you caused by repeatedly neglecting your body is no way to fix the problem. Hoping for a quick paycheck from a company you’ve gotten hundreds of dollars’ worth of burgers from won’t improve your health or make you feel any better about yourself. Owning up to the error of one’s ways, and making a change is the only way to truly get past this detrimental health problem in our country. All writers like Zinczenko do is add fuel to the fire igniting frequent fast food patrons an excuse as to why they are heavy set, instead of leading them to the direct route to the problem, the main in the mirror.
