7. Tell us about an event that best illustrates your strengths and or weaknesses?
This question will give insight to the interviewee’s emotional intelligence. How he or she can self-assess their abilities and challenges. “When people are able to combine a sense of how their own emotions can guide or derail them with a developed awareness of how others feel, they are equipped to navigate the complexities of relationships across many situations.”(Wicks & Nakisher, 2014).
8. Describe a time or situation where you had to mentor someone?
This question is meant to highlight the style of mentorship of the candidate. Mentorship, whether it be formal or informal, is intended to highlight the applicant’s communication, coaching, teaching, and patience skills. Healthcare executives ought to empower their associations and professional relationships to bolster dynamic coaching and mentoring programs.(Madden,2015).
9. How do you motivate your employees?
The answer to this question will highlight the candidate’s strategic thinking skills. How he or she will align the goals of the employees with the organizationn’s goals. He will prove how he can showcase, analyze and utilize their strengths and weaknesses to help them achieve personal success and inspire commitment to the company.
10. Describe a time or a situation where you were asked to compromise your ethics? What were the outcomes?
Not only should an executive excel at his duties, but should also perform with the most outstanding respect to moral conduct at all times. The answer paints a thorough overview of the candidate moral principles, values, and beliefs. Did he or she explore professional guidelines or personal beliefs? Did the applicant seek advice from the Ethics Committee? Also, how was the situation handled? Was it with sensitivity and discretion and respect with to all involved, especially the company. Are his or her statements translated into the moral compass and values of the hospital? According to Donnellan(2013): an ethical executive must know the limit of their qualities and moral standards.
The most efficient way to ensure the success of a healthcare facility is to employ the future leaders in the industry. The rapidly changes affecting the healthcare industry require talented, innovative healthcare executives leaders at the helm. Human resources manager must compile a comprehensive list of expectations for their candidates. Employers are seeking individuals with accreditated academic training, strong communication skills, solid work experiences, adaptability competencies, dependability, high ethics and strong management skills.
