Breastfeeding is good for the babies, but the mother will have a tough time continuing to do it properly. For the first six months if the mother still breastfeeding her child, she will feel painful on her nipples, and it is tiring situations to maintain. Since breast milk digests faster than formula fed; nonetheless, she has to feed the child more often up to every two to three hours. A mother has to pay attention to the food she eats, drinks, and vitamins in her diet while breastfeeding. It means lower mercury fish, no more than 300 mg of caffeine per day, and limiting alcoholic drink in the system when breast milk the baby. Foods that contain too spicy are not a great choice for the child's stomach and other foods such as garlic and cabbage (Frances & Picciano, 2003). Thus, mom needs to stay away and figure out what type of foods work and not.
Breastfeeding is not suitable for every household, so they tend to turn to formula-feeding. If a mother has a busy work schedule, her body does not produce adequate milk, or she is under medications; however, formula-feeding is the best option for the family. Bottle feeding allows mom to rest and let other people take over the feedings while the mother has more time to take care of herself. The baby that uses formula-feeding takes longer to assimilate; thus, the family has more time to sleep at night. Vitamin D sometimes found a shortage in breast milk while formula fed gets all the vitamins requirements throughout the formula. During bottle feeding, mom can eat whatever, or whenever she desires. Formula feeding measures the accurate amount of the baby is eating, and it is useful for figuring out if the baby is gaining weight or not.

Formula fed is costing more money, and it may go up to 1,500 dollars for the first year (Shenai, J P, 2013). In addition, the price can increase depending on which formulas you choose from concentrated, ready to eat, or powdered. Using formula can be a hassle when you want to travel, and keep them sterilized and clean each time. Bottle feeding may contain more gas, and the baby might develop constipation or diarrhea issues because it is more complicated to digest.
It is crucial for each household to make a right decision about using breast milk or formula because it needs to fit the mother conditions and her child to stay healthy. Do not feel stress out over making the selection because the baby will grow strong and attach with the family. Discuss with your family and doctor to find a better care for the baby and what is best for you and your child (Shenai, J P, 2013).
