Compare and contrast knowledge gained from experience with knowledge gained from books. In your opinion, which source is more important? Why?
Knowledge gained from experience is a good way of learning because there are a lot of things, like sports, cooking, that can’t be learned only with reading they need to be practiced, but in my opinion knowledge gained from books is more important because there are so many things that can’t be learned only by practicing, for example learning to play musical instruments, history, science topics.
Playing musical instruments is not easier as people believe, because you have to learn the different kind of notes that exist. For example, to play the piano and the guitar is necessary you know what are the notes, the highs and lows. So, you have to look first in a book or internet to learn the principles of playing this instruments. If you don’t know how to take a guitar, how to tune its strings, the sound you create would be out of tune.
History is another thing that you can’t learn by practicing, because history is based in different events that occurred in past times. So, to know about them you have to research in books and internet because those are the only places where you can find the answers. For example, the discovery of America, which occurred on October 12, 1492 by Cristóbal Colón, is something that can learn by reading. Maybe watching some movies, but the movies come from books.
Science topics are facts, discoveries that have been already proved. For example, mathematics have formulas already proved. So, if you want to learn how to solve any mathematics problem the first thing you have to do is looking in a book and understanding how the formulas must be used.
There are many things that although you read a lot without practicing you cannot do them, but to learn those technical aspects it is always necessary to know the previous foundations which are acquired by books.
