Fiction Beginnings

Soarin bowed before me once again. “I need one more favor from you my friend. Within this box lays a powerful darkness. Do not let anyone disturb it. Watch over and protect the land. I hope that in time you may come to know my children. You know much of our history and in time you may be in need to tell it.” Soar swore to me he would do everything in his power to protect this spot.

I journeyed once more through the land of ELM back to the palace. I took in all that I could. The mountains that stretched high above the clouds in the wind elm, the trees that spoke to me as I walked by them in the Wood Elm, fire elementals running and soaring across the rocks and hills of the Fire Elm. As I approached my own Elm, the Water Elm, I knew this would be the last time I would see my beautiful land. The darkness had taken it's tole on me and I knew it was time for me to rest.

I laid myself down on my bed and called in my children. I had gifts to give them in hopes it would help them rule ELM in peace. To Faolin I gave the amulet that would give him Eternal Life. I told him that it would be a blessing and a curse, but someone had to remember what had happened, and what will happen. Along with the amulet I gave him all my books and as I took his hand I transferred all my knowledge. Including that of making additional amulets.

To my daughter Faith I gave the second amulet. I told her if anything were to happen to ELM she could use this amulet to open a portal to a New Elm, called Earth. I took her hand and bestowed my remaining magic and life force to her.

I hope my children will forgive me for what I have done, and hope they will see that I did it for the good of ELM. Always for the good of Elm. And now I sleep.
