But why are so many angry about it? The independence day is something americans celebrate all over the states, and its the most valued day of them all. Why should Indians celebrate that day when it states that they are savages.
‘’But how can American Indians simply “get over it” when the primary founding document of the U.S. still condescendingly refers to them as a “savage” to this day?’’. - Adrian Jaworts
"Any holiday that would refer to my people in such a repugnant, racist manner is certainly not worth celebrating," - Simon Moya-Smith
Every year people celebrates that Indians are savages. Indians are allowed to be questioning that something has to change. Many americans don't actually know that DOI state's Indian are savages, and I don't think that a lot of the population are racist. This problem is caused by an overlooked sentence, but what can you do about it. Should whole america stop celebrating their independence day? The three damaging words by Thomas Jefferson should have been a wake up call for every man that celebrates independence day, because why celebrate equality when the DOI state Indians are savages.
Indians are in a position that is very hard to get through, and to be mocked by the whole nation it is hard to be a part of the country. In many years americans have been celebrating the 4th of july, and this is a tradition that a very important for some. There should be some changes in the country so every culture can feel at home. But the DOI is such a strong document for the americans, and that can't chance. So should it be rewritten? should the president make a new document that really states that all men are created equally? The problem is big and should be discussed more than it is.
