East Egg is the place where people are born into money. The people in East egg like Tom Buchanan and Daisy Buchanan are from wealthy families. They have simple and selfish American Dreams. Like Daisies American Dream is to simply be taken care of. Her dream is kind of a selfish one where she isn’t trying to work hard for anything. Tom’s dream is to keep daisy. He just doesn’t want to see her go although he is habitually cheating on her he still always goes back to her he claims

"And what’s more, I love Daisy too. Once in awhile I go off on a spree and make a fool of myself, but I always come back, and in my heart I love her all the time." (7.251-252)

The valley of Ashes is an industry place where the working class lives and works. There are two characters from the book that lives there. George and Myrtle. George is a working class gas station man and mechanic. His dream is to go west with his wife to make her happy but what he does realize that her American Dream is to move up in the social class.

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald shows a wide variety of the American Dream. The dream is still around today I believe because people are still trying to be successful in their own ways. The book shows that Fitzgerald’s Interpretation is that it can be obtained by anybody who has a dream of some sort.
