Once the chemicals reach the ocean, they are unable to dissolve so instead, they simply sink to the ocean floor giving the animals an even higher possibility of ingesting it. Small animals consume these chemicals mistaking it for food. Later, these animals are then eaten by larger animals, which then affects the entire food chain. Eventually, this cycle will trace back to affect human’s health also. Animals from impacted food chain are then eaten by these individuals, which affects their health as toxins from the contaminated species gets deposited into the tissue of humans. These toxins, if consumed through marine life, can lead to cancer, birth defects or long-term health problems.

There is never a better time than now to address the issue of pollution and the lasting affects it inflicts on the Earth and all its’ inhabitants. If saving our marine life and land animals is not enough reason to focus on correcting our wrongs, then we should make these adjustments to save humanity. These senseless acts of neglect and selfishness displayed by humans is leaving a foot print that one day cannot be erased. We have to accept responsibility for the insidious acts that we have displayed that have inflicted pain and suffering on the creatures of our Earth. One small act of discarding of our garbage correctly, recycling, or disposing of chemicals properly can make a difference if we all do it together. It is our responsibility to keep our home vigorous and resilient but pollution does precisely the opposite, it destroys and leaves devastation. There is never a better time than now to make a change.
