that instead of conforming to society we need to be open minded to everyone’s realities or point of views instead of only believing in our own ideas and interests. An example pertaining to human sexuality is the Republicans that are trying to ban birth control. These republicans that feel birth control should be banned need to use mindful reconstruction and be willing to “spin alternate realties” in order to see the opposing sides perspective (2001: 561).

4. Consider abortion. Most of the women getting an abortion are unmarried, young, unemployed, or rape victims. These women are to young to know the repercussions of sex, have a lack of education on contraception. This is a social problem because if these girls were taught at an early age about sexual education and were taught how to have safe sex instead of teaching “sex is bad” they would not be resorting to having an abortion. Personal troubles are troubles of an individual’s background and environment. A social issue affects a society as a whole and they cannot avoid the problem because it’s an issue of a social structure. Personal problems go hand in hand in what type of society a person lives in or is raised in. Hubbard says “ the society in which we live channels, guides, and limits out imagination in sexual as well as other matters” (1991:68). We are consistently conforming to the views and beliefs of the ones in our society and if the social structure isn’t in a mindset of equality for all it is hard to achieve a just society.
