The Effects of Extracurricular Activities to the Academic Performance to the Pm 3 Stem Students of Phinma Upang College Urdaneta

This research follows a descriptive method under the quantitative approach of the research. The research included all STEM students under the PM 3 section who are currently enrolled at PHINMA UPang College Urdaneta.

After the floating of the 4-scale likert-type questionnaire among the respondents, it was found out that (a) majority of the respondents are female, and are aged 17; (b) the perception of the students on the effects of extracurricular activities to the academic performances of STEM PM 3 is “Strongly Agree”; (c) There is no significant relationship between the profile variables of the respondents and their perceptions on the effects of extra curricular activities to the academic performances of STEM PM 3; and (d) the suggested measures had been designed to improve or sustain the respondents perception about the effects of extracurricular activities to the academic performances of STEM PM 3 of PHINMA UPang College of Urdaneta.

With the drawn conclusions, the researchers suggested for the students that (a) time management should always be considered and valued since extrcurricular activities takes a lot of time out of a student’s schedule; (b) student’s should follow their schedule and avoid procastination; (c) student’s must know what activity they should spend their time before engaging in extracurricular activities; (d) Participate only in extracurricular activities that they take interest in that could possibly enhance their skills, and could probably gain them knowledge since experiences are the greatest and best lesson givers that’ll help throughout life.

The researchers also suggested for the teachers that (a) act as facilitators and provide time to guide, support and help students. Spectate student’s activities which as no student shall participate in too many extracurricular activities; (b) assess the student’s with their skills and interest to recommend them what extracurricular activity suits them the most; and lastly (c) give prior notice to what students may encounter if they participate in extracurricular activities and be ready to give them advices as well as tips to help them maintain their track.
