While many celebrities may or may not be strictly political, their ability to influence people on political subjects on a global scale is power that some politicians only dream of. Because celebrities have so much influence over some aspects of our lives such as identity and political views it is important to evaluate their huge role in our country’s pop culture.

As the years have gone by celebrities have become less and less famous for true reasons and more famous due to just being famous. Psychology Today states, “We're in the Kleenex phase of fame...We see so much of people, and in all branches of the media. We blow our nose on every new star that happens to come along and then dispose of them...Technology has changed fame so that it is far more immediate and instantaneous—and our fascination with it has become far more fickle.” It is true that over the years the true value of the celebrity has been diminishing. Because of this celebrities are famous just for the sake of being famous rather than for their talent, or act of integrity.

What is being portrayed in our pop culture is a downgraded version of what society should be viewing.

Celebrities have been a part of America’s pop-culture for many years. With each passing year, society has become more entranced in their lives, television shows, love life and appearances. For many people, the celebrity aspect of pop-culture is shaping their live by affecting society's view of politics and even their own identities come into question; is society being given proper role models? If there is any truth about America that celebrities tell us, it is that our pop-culture is being taken over by what society shouldn’t be interested in: media, perfect people, and advanced technologies.
