a team player is not a selfish spectator. For my cup of coffee, the closest I get to being a selfish spectator is taking three sugar packets instead of two and watching my dad struggling to find another packet. A person who is a team player isn’t the opponent or enemy. A team player’s behavior is cooperative and flexible to the group they are strongly addressed to. Comfort and trust felt when a team player comes in clutch as a problem solver is not something to be taken advantage of.

The first thing to come to mind when I received the word “team player” was my soccer team. But as all members of a team know, sometimes things aren’t the best at practices, games, meets, or matches. I took it upon myself to educate myself not only what the word meant to me, but to others as well. When I asked other people what a team player meant to them, the most common answer was a team captain and occasionally, a natural born leader. When I asked people what they thought of me I got answers like flexible, reliable, and cooperative. All of which are qualities of a team player. Estatic to their responses, I had realized that the personality test was right.

When it comes down to it, a team player is pretty handy to have around. Some people refer to a team player as being a suck up or a goodie goodie, that is not the case. A team player is our almighty divine intervention and perhaps it’s people like that, that make our refuting world function after all.
