The media plays a role in a large part of our lives. The media covers the president as if he were a rock star. The media provides the platform by which we can get to know the president and what issues they are stand for. This role of the media is important because without them we would not be able to be aware of what is going on in the rest of the world. Media is a necessary evil that society must continue to direct. The unfairness of the media is that we are not always given all of the truth just enough, so we can keep the faith in our government or what is hot at that moment.
I think there should be some areas of the President and whoever is in the public eye should be off limits. It becomes invasive when the media over-steps certain arrears of people lives such as when they have down falls, lose love ones, pass mistakes, and etc. We sometimes forget that we are not perfect and we all make mistakes. These are the only times I think stories about the President should be suppressed.
The presidents attempt to control the media by first showing how media friendly they are to the world. Then they control them by only doing interviews and answering certain questions that they see fit. Before doing interviews they prescreen the questions and decide which ones they will answer.
It seems that President Nixon really didn’t know when to speak. The Watergate tapes were his downfall because he told everyone about the operation. I believe that anything that has anything to do with the American people, they have a right to know. The public should always be in the know of what the government is doing and how it will affect their lives.
