Most people say that once college education is made free, its value will not be the same as before. This cannot be taken as true. Once a person is educated, they will obviously work better and therefore have a better life. College education will give them better perspectives, clear thinking capacity and better understanding skills that high school education cannot ensure. If many people are educated, there will be a better competition but that doesn’t mean that there will be no value of their study. What a person studies will always have a value in that person’s life. James Pethoukoukis, a writer, says “college with free education have a comparatively low average completion rate than those with high tuitions” (Should college be free). This may be true, but once the colleges are fully free, students will probably complete them because of the education they would get and all the opportunities that it would guarantee with the completion of their degree.
What college life guarantees is proper understanding, better jobs and eventually a better life standard. This cannot be guaranteed by just a higher-level education. Despite the claims of many people, especially the business minded people, that the free education doesn’t push the people to actually finish the education, and the costly education makes them work hard, the idea of free education gives much better vibe than the costly one. Once college is made free, the number of people that will be educated and working for the development of the country will be significantly high. Hence, colleges should be free and fully funded due to all the prospects it holds for betterment of a person’s life.
