In conclusion, maybe the most fundamental aspect of a person’s identity is gender, because gender deeply affects every part of one’s life. In nowadays society, although open-mind are widely promoted among people, gender stereotyping is still exist in different parts of life. These hidden messages are not obvious or easy to be found, but they exist in every parts of life. This important aspect of self has been narrowly defined and rigidly controlled by invisible norms. Individuals who live outside of norms face serious challenges. Plus, children who are developing their own gender identity and concepts are easily affected by distorted gender roles, which represents from toys or advertisement. Under the social norms, those who are only slightly away from the gender norm can become targets of disapproval. It is believed that the situation can be changed in the coming future as the society is becoming more open-minded and accepting the minorities in gender issues. Through a thoughtful consideration of the uniqueness of every person’s experiences of self, people can develop greater acceptance for all the people in the society. This will not only create greater inclusion for individuals who try to challenge the norms of gender but also create a space for all individuals to explore and accept their unique identity.
