Workplace gender inequality also brings in a lot of loss to the industry. Why is it so? It is because if there is no gender equality, resources will be wasted. While gender inequality exist, a country will miss out the important contribution women can make to the economy. We are also wasting the years of investments for the higher education of the young ones. Take Australia as an example, there are around 58% of Australia’s university graduates are women but there are only 67% of them are currently in paid work, contrast to the 78% percent of men, proving that Australia is failing to achieve economic contribution of what the women can offer. Companies with gender equality can perform better and reduce expenses at the same time. It is because gender equality gradually attracts talented individuals, not only men but also women, therefore increasing the chance of economic growth. There is no static proof that women are not excellent in completing tasks and lose to men in terms of talent and cleverness as long as they work hard. As women are getting higher educated than men, a workplace without gender equality provides no attractive force to women, therefore risks losing the individual’s talent. As for expenses, a departing employee can cost a lot, up to 75% or more of their annual wage. If both women and men are to be viewed and treated equally, employee will less likely turnover for an organization offering gender equality, thereby decreasing the chances of using high expenses for recruitments. Also, an amount of researches found out that there is a link between gender equality and better organizational performance. One of the factors that explains this is that diversity brings together varied perspectives and leads to an improved decision making for a company. For example, staffs that works under a convenient and comfortable environment where there exists no gender inequality, they could work together without discriminating each other and produce some useful information. This is way better than those workplaces that discriminate a certain gender, because scientific studies proved that men and women thinks differently and therefore, a company that discriminate genders tends to be weaker than a company that promotes gender equality.
