GPS has made huge impacts to the world. The reason why GPS is still widely used by civilians is simply because GPS integrated with smartphone apps which made it more user-friendly and attractive to use for ordinary users. It transferred the complicated GPS units to a point on the map and people can easily find where they are. In the recent months GPS system played an active role with a smartphone game called Pokémon Go, which used GPS as the background engine and providing a virtual reality experiences to players in a real world map.
Despite its tremendous advantages and convenience brought to people, GPS also posed great menace on people. When going outdoor, people often use GPS which may lead to the leakage of personal privacy. As some of the GPS apps constantly recorded people’s location and allowed anonymous people to learn where the user had been traveled. It is extremely dangerous because those data could potentially lead to many types of criminal activities such as stalking and kidnapping.
To summarize, GPS system changed the world both positively and negatively. The navigation became extremely easier and the way of traveling and national defending changed because of it. In addition, GPS integrated with the smartphone which will further improves the users’ experiences. However, the security issues of GPS privacy should never be overlooked. After all, It was embedded in every gadgets, every industry and everywhere, but people must know how to master it and make it as an useful tool to improve our life.
