Mrs. Pearce who is also in a lower class than Higgins shows that she has better manners than him. Higgins should already know that he should not use that word. He had to be corrected by some one in a lower class. There is time where Mrs. Pearce tells Higgins he must not walk over everybody. He fails to realize that he has poor manners. He does has more respect to her than he does for Liza but thats because Mrs. Pearce speaks up for herself. The poor is not respected by the upper class because they do not voice their opinion. Mrs. Pearce has better manners than Higgins and she is in a lower class than him. It clearly shows that wealth is what separates the people in Pygmalion.

We see in the book that Higgins has the poorest manners while the people below him have great manners. Liza wanted to be apart of the upperclass so she wanted to change the way she speak but she failed to realize no matter what if your not a rich as them you want be them. The poor are in a low class because they do not have as much money as the rich. However, if manners determine social class than the poor will be on top while the rich is on bottom. This is important to know because changing the way you speak so that you pass as someone else is only going to give your life a false reality. Liza will always be a flower girl. All she did was change the way she speak and put on a fancy dress and jewels. You should just be who you are and work your way to the top like the rich did.
