Evidence
With unemployment being a major concern in today’s economy, Trump continuously refers to how he plans to end this battle of people not wanting to work or having troubles finding work. “…we’re going to be thriving as a country, thriving. It can happen... I tell you that. I’ll bring back our jobs from China, from Mexico, from Japan, from so many places. I’ll bring back our jobs, and I’ll bring back our money.” Trump highlights this argument that we need to take action in making America great again. More evidence can be witnessed when trump states, “We owe China $1.3 trillion. We owe Japan more than that.” These are frightening numbers that Trump sheds light on in order to open the eyes of the American people as to where our economy stands.
Structure
Donald Trump’s presentation of his speech offered a subtle style that did not have much structure or any obvious pattern. With this sort of approach though, he addressed issues that would help the audience perceive what his campaign methodology will entail in the coming months. This speech gives a great indication to his campaign’s structure and will drive compellingly with the American people in the efforts to “Make America Great Again” (Trump).
Strategies
Donald Trump stated many issues about what the current government officials are doing; both in the united states as well as abroad. He was able to shape the material for his own advantage by insulting the current heads of state and overcome the challenges at hand. “I will be the greatest jobs president that God ever created” (Trump). The way Donald Trump uses his figure of speech speaks volumes about the way he plans to carry himself in the public eye.
Conclusion
In conclusion, we were able to follow Trumps Presidential Announcement Speech and apply the descriptive analysis framework to further our knowledge of the purpose, audience, persona, tone, structure, evidence, and strategy of this speech. After further examination we have gained a deeper insight to Trump’s goals and aspirations for his presidential campaign. Trump left many questions unanswered, but gave a direction to what his main focus points are in the beginning stages of his campaign.
