Acceptance of Death

that he is going to die. Hernando doesn’t  even care he just keeps doing his thing and he doesn’t freak out: “ Hernando watched them drive away until they were out of site”. He went back into his house and he continued with his live as if nothing happened. The tourists tell them that atomic war has started and it’s the end of the world. Hernando’s wife ask what happens and he doesn’t reply. He just keeps plowing the field and he starts to wonder what he means by the end of the world. He is just a man that probably doesn’t have a radio to listen to the news and has no clue whats so ever of what is happening. He is just probably trying accept that he is gonna die and at the same time he is just trying to understand whats happening right now.

There is many short stories in this story that have the theme of “Acceptance Of Death’’. I chose the Highway and Kaleidoscope because those were my favorite stories in the book. Sometimes you just have to accept death because you can not control it and it is inevitable. Hollis and Hernando have to different mindsets they both have a mindset that they are accepting there death. But Hollis wishes he could have done more with his life and he feels like he did not live it to the fullest. Hernando on the other hand doesn’t care whats going to happen and he has the mindset of that he lived life to the fullest.
