Overall, I think all the things are just like a bad cycle: once it starts it can never stop. From long time ago, the relationship between police and the criminal justice system are wired and unreliable. The basic reason will be what white people’s relationship with the police. The difference influences how blacks think about the system itself. Gallup polls stated that: “Blacks believe less in the “perceived honesty and ethics” of police officers.” Black Americans also have less confidence in the criminal justice system and police. Not only by white people, sometimes media is also a big reason why black has bad imagine in the society. Sometimes TV news, reality TV shows, and even drama shows can affect people’s thought about racist when how they depict who commits crime. In media there are more black suspects in crime in reality, then it might leads white people to believe they are more likely to be victimized by a person of color. Although we may not solve the problem however I think we can reduce the racial disparities little by little. For instance, we can improve our policies, practices, and every day decisions. Politicians, polices and judges thinking carefully before making any decisions that can be unequal and hurt to black people. Almost everything from policing to pretrial detention to prosecution to probation and parole can reduce crime without putting people into prison. For the communication part, it’s true that sometimes media will exaggeration on their reports. However, I think people should response in distinctly realize their responsibility of improving public’s attitudes and perspectives about racism to a higher level. But most important, we need to learn form successes based on tested innovation.
