Her photo work is mainly black and white photographs with overlaid captions set in white on a red poster. The phrases that she uses in her work are informing, and she makes common use of common pronouns such as; "you", "your", "I", "we", and "they". The mix of symbolism and content about sexism and the dissemination of force inside societies is a repeating design in Kruger's work. The content in her works of the 1980s incorporates such expressions as "Your comfort is my silence" (1981), "You invest in the divinity of the masterpiece" (1982), and "I shop therefore I am" (1987). Kruger guarantees that she works with pictures and words since they can figure out who we are and who we aren't. Her later work utilizes a sort of "appropriation as its own focus, pulling from the works of others and the words they depict to create her own (yahooanswers)". Her center was to circuit expansive social pictures overall and spot them toward smaller indications of individual translation.

Kruger's piece, 'I shop therefore I am', spotlights on the world as a shopper society. For some individuals, shopping has transformed into a way of life devouring at our relaxation. Some vibe that, the force of utilization is preventing us from discovering genuine happiness; and that shopping frequently acts as a substitute for something that we have lost in life. Customers in society has a solid control over the general population. The focal point is about what we purchase and what we put resources into, the world we live in will be the aftereffect of these decisions. I feel this is the message that Barbara Kruger was attempting to depict through her Photo after my research.
