BROTHER LEON IS A CHALLENGE. Perhaps even the main challenge, that acts as the root that all poor Jerry’s problems stem from. He’s a selfish, wicked man who also happens to become the head master and is also Jerry’s home room teacher. So, there is no escaping his wrath once he decides he doesn’t like you. He like Archie has a horrible sense of humor. It amuses him to torture his pupils. They call it playing a game or putting on a performance. He manipulates his students with his authority setting the tone of the atmosphere in his class. One look, and they all know somethings about to happen. Not respect but fear of the man.
PRIDE COMETH BEFORE THE FALL. In an effort to assert authority or defy authority, two things happen, one: Archie becomes a starving desperate egotistical monster, and two: Jerry becomes his egos meal. Fueled by Brother Leon’s motivation and protection of course. Trying to figure out who you are, and who your going to be, and what your going to do to become who you want to be. All while trying to deal with what everyone else wants you to be is overwhelming. The fact is, everyone has a different idea of success. Making sure your never gonna make everyone like you, but being comfortable with yourself, can sometimes make others uncomfortable. Thus, causing boys to be boys.
