Academic Experience
Davidson students explore the liberal arts curriculum in depth, and enjoy close faculty collaboration as they develop the focus for their own research and scholarship.
Relationships with such organizations as the Royal Shakespeare Company, summer work and service opportunities across the globe, twelve academic concentrations within the curriculum, and a Center for Interdisciplinary Studies offer the widest possible range of inquiry and endeavor.
At Davidson, students form lifelong connections with one another and with the college faculty and staff, as they grow intellectually and personally in preparation for lives of leadership and service.
Student Life
Davidson offers many opportunities to interact with fellow students who share your interests. From athletics, service and student government, to fine arts, media, and religious life, opportunities abound.
Fun Facts/TraditionFreshman Cake Race
Freshmen year is a nervous and scary experience for almost every Davidson student. This 1.7 mile mandatory race, which has been held every year since, has become a trademark of Davidson College and its incoming freshmen; it is the Cake Race.
Participation today is now voluntary; whereas, in the beginning “The race was mandatory unless you were in the infirmary or had only one leg”. Despite the changes, the race still brings out many participants and spectators every year.
