Someone who not only could program as well as, and maybe even better than he did, but who also could work well in a team environment and mesh together better with his fellow workers.

Our first task was to help Mikel gain some self-confidence, and there is no better way to start than looking the part. Under our guidance and coaching Mikel not only had a new array of clothes that he could wear but he also knew how to pick them out for himself.

Now, he no longer looks the part of a background object waiting to be overlooked and instead looked like a professional, ready to perform whatever task is placed before him. He still didn’t have the feel of the professional but looking the part was the first step, the second step would be his self-confidence.

Working on Mikel’s self-confidence had become an almost therapeutic process for him. He was placed in the role that he feared the most, the role of an interviewee trying to sell himself to an employer.

It was difficult the first few rounds even as our interview instructor made the interview more welcoming and less stressful to help Mikel get over his fears. Mikel still had trouble seeing anything worthwhile to mention about himself during the interview and he was often apprehensive and scared of being judged.

It took quite a few trials to get him used to the position of someone trying to impress and to help him get over the fears of being rejected. But soon the jovial attitude helped him move along and he even performed very well in several of the more aggressive mock interviews.

Mikel had learned what points he should outline about himself and what issues were better avoided and soon, he not only had the clothes of a confident person but knew how to wear them to bring out the ultimate effect of bringing confidence to the table wherever he went.

Mikel was coming along nicely and the improvements showed a drastic change in attitude and demeanor. It was finally time to set Mikel up with a real interview!

ProLegant’s job search team had already prepared a sizeable list of computer programming jobs that Mikel could apply to and with his grades being significantly above average and his new confident style, we knew Mikel would be a winner.

And sure enough, Mikel had to stop searching for a job half-way through the interview list when he was offered a very luxurious job working in a bank’s website development team.
