By having inflated health cost sharing will not make healthcare more for those who already cannot afford insurance. It will alternatively put a huger burden on the consumers who is in need of the care. (Gould, 2013) The tools used in increasing cost sharing had implementation problems, aside from being flawed in concept. According to the article, most proposals made it so that the consumers had to pay more of their own money for medical costs. This hits the ones who demand a high level of medical care extremely hard. (Gould, 2013)
Conclusions
Trying to understand higher healthcare cost for employer sponsored health insurance and reconstructing Medicare, will be a burden to all that’s involved. The higher cost will not only affect the employers but their families and the elderly as well. Those patients that need a wide-range of care are the ones that will be affected the most. This may lead to patients getting sicker from not being able to afford the care that they need anymore. People seem to overlook the fact the some employees will opt out of receiving insurance because of the high cost. I know people that get sick and the only time they will go to the doctors unless it was their last option. In my opinion the best thing consumers can do is educate ourselves on living a healthier lifestyle, whether it’s just eating right and exercising.
Personal Assessment
Since we are discussing redistribution, I wanted to see if I could understand it better. This article did give me a little more insight into the subject. What I’ve come to understand is that no matter what proposal on raising prices is chosen it’s a stressful is for all involved.
