According to Mr. Derek Milroy (“End of an era down Bui Vien Street” on http://tuoitrenews.vn),The city authorities have enforced a rule to ban all business operations on sidewalks in an effort to ensure street and street-side order and security. This threads talk about the current issues in Bui Vien street that the HCMC People’s Committee had given the regulation, all sidewalk shops on Bui Vien Streets have been forced to shut down.

- Purpose and Significance of the study:

We are students of Hospitality department so doing this study will help us to understand clearly our subject as well as get more knowledge to support our future job.

The study opens with an introduction and a brief literature review of the new kind of food service for young people and foreigner on Bui Vien Street.

The first research question is to find out how food stall on Bui Vien attract customer. Besides that, we also get knowledge about the profits and problems of the development of food stall on Bui Vien Street. Finally, find the authorities’ policies and legislation for the development of this new trend.

- METHODOLOGY

In this study, young people and foreigner tourists were considered to be the customers who enjoy their free time on Bui Vien Street. Moreover, they involved in longer rather than very brief rest and had flexibility in their itineraries. At last, they also had a willingness to be involved in social and participatory activities. The core methods used to build the strategies which are the major outcomes of this report were scanning of the existing magazine and internet literature. Besides that, we did the survey of 30 of young people and foreigner randomly on Bui Vien Street. They did our survey voluntarily, independently and without any pressure come from us. We contacted them by the way that created the survey on the internet and invited them to join the survey by sending messages on Facebook or called their mobiles. After three days, we collected the answers and did the charts.

The content of the questionnaires is based on the research questions mentioned above:

- The first part of the questionnaire is interviewee backgrounds. In this part, we wanted to get information about our interviewees such as genders, ages, places where they came from etc. We added a question to know that people usually travel alone or with friends or families. Moreover, one question about interviewee’s current job to get information. Through the knowledge about interviewee’s jobs, we could calculate how often or how long they could spend on their free time on Bui Vien Street.

- Next question was to get information about why they might prefer Bui Vien Street to other places. Next two questions talked about their feelings.

- Last questions were about Bui Vien Street in future.

In the first week of Research Methods subject, we chose the topic.

In the second week, we wrote title and short description about the method. We wrote the content of the questionnaire and interview sheet and completed it in the same week. We started to give out the questionnaires and interview in the next week and wrote the abstract, introduction and methodology. Finally, we analyzed data getting from the questionnaires and interview sheets. In the same week, we assigned work for each member to write research paper, finished writing and last checked for both grammars and vocabularies. The focus of these papers is about analyzing the development of Bui Vien Street. We wanted to research not only the situation of the development of in Bui Vien Street nowadays but also impact of this to Vietnamese young people. This research was carried out in the Department of Tourism and Hospitality. The subjects of the research consisted of 30 young people and foreigner. The subjects were chosen randomly from our Facebook friend list to obtain a more scientific result that could be used to represent the entirety of 30 interviewee. A questionnaire was given to each person on Facebook. Then they returned it to us after he/she filled it in. Following the collections of data through the questionnaires, we will conduct the observation especially aim to HUFLIT students. The data obtained from the questionnaire will be treated statistically to reveal the Bui Vien street food.

- RESULTS AND FINDINGS

The interview consisted of the simple and quick series of pre – written questions asked of one party member pertaining their age, the place they have visited, the sources of information they needed for their trip and so on. The results achieved through a small survey by questionnaire (30 random people) which may help us to have a clear view about this topic.

The figure indicated the largest ratio in the group of age is sixteen to twenty four years old, at 68% during the age that interested in the entertainment places in Bui Vien street. The age from the twenty- five years old to twenty-nine years old took the second place and nearly one quarter of age in Vietnam wanted to join the new kind of tourism, 23% respectively. However, small ratio (2%) of age from over thirty is interested in Bui Vien Street.

The table 3.2 demonstrates that the Bui Vien street is very famous and attractive. There is a biggest number of both male (51%) and female (46%) spend 4 to 5 times per month coming to Bui Viên Street, and 33% of female and 28% of male go to this place 2 to 3 times per month. 10% of female and 12% of male love foreigner street, their habits are go to Bui Vien and enjoy SaiGon nightlife over 5 times per month. Besides that, a few of them don’t want to spend too much time at Bui Viện, 11% of female and 9% of male rarely come to Bui Viện Street.
