This is the external environment in which the company had to manage.

Now let’s analyse the conflict which took place within the organization.

Nitish on the day of his HR interview, was offered a salary of Rs. 2.55 lakhs by Mr. Venkat. Since Nitish raised an objection to this offer, Venkat called in his boss, Meena. This was the first instance where an employee had raised an objection against the salary offered to them. Meena jokingly says the same to Nitish, to which Nitish replies saying he’s only asking for what he deserves. This seemed as an arrogant retort to Meena, who immediately went back to a business demeanour. She offered a revised offer of Rs 3.1 lakhs but Nitish was not ready to accept that either. Further there was no confirmation given to him form Meena, despite the fact that he was offered the whole amount from the top management, of Rs 4.3 lakhs. This resulted in Meena getting a mouthful from Mr. Kapoor.

Also, the issue regarding the severance payment to Nitish’s previous employer and the reimbursement fees for him and his wife that was promised, further causes a rift between Meena and Nitish.

Meena being already a member of the company felt humiliated when she had to compromise against a newcomer. Nitish, due to his earlier experience with preparing bids, and other software skills, instantly became a favourite among the top management. This further agitated Meena.

This resulted in Meena holding a grudge against Nitish, which can be seen through her intervening against Nitish’s participation, in the international business trips to Korea and New Zealand.

Suggested Solution:

Having a high quotient of extroversion, the first suggestion would be that Nitish should talk to Meena, and he should explain that he was not at fault as he promised by Venkat. It is of utmost importance that he clears this impression of Meena, as she can dwarf his growth in the organization.

The second suggestion would be that the Solutions Unlimited fills the vacant human resource management positions. As Meena and Venkat are operational professionals, hence displacing them from their area of expertise will work against the betterment of the organization.

The third alternative is that he goes to the Nagpur office, and hope that the distance between them will resolve the tension.

The fourth and final solution is that Nitish leaves the company altogether. This suggestion may prove to be better as, Meena may not let go of her grudge towards Nitish even in the long term, which may further cause problems with international opportunities.
