Sub goal 1: Develop local Japanese market; get certain amount of orders on furniture and wood components per month in Japan.
Sub goal 2: Develop foreign markets; set up routine furniture and wood components export lines to two to three countries at the beginning.
Sub goal 3: Set up at least one house building team in operating countries.
Objectives
The following objectives are set to reach our goals.
Objective 1:
To develop the local Japanese market, we have to hire marketing professionals who knows Japanese and Japanese culture well. The team will help us promote and make deals in Japan. Moreover, we will set up factory to produce furniture and wood components. Our workers will be mostly Japanese.
Objective 2:
For foreign market, we will first target two to three countries that people suffer from earthquake a lot. In addition, we develop a team consist of Japanese and foreign professionals to carry out our marketing plan.
Objective 3: We will first set up house building team in Japan and two to three targeted countries. The team responsible for design and build Japanese style houses.
Product strategy
We have made three main assumptions for our products and service. First, we assumed that there are market needs around the world for our products and service. Second, we assume that we are able to obtain the Japanese architecture techniques to build our products. Last, we assume we have sufficient fund to set factory and headquarter in Japan as well as branches in oversea countries.
Products and service
The products we produce are furniture and architectural components that made by wood. The Japanese tradition architectural and woodworking techniques are use in production process. The service we provide is design and build home for customers. Our company will gather up a team of architectural professionals to responsible for the service. Customers can communicate with the house building team and customize their house according to their needs and preference.
Unique features of our service and products
Our products and service base on the Japanese tradition architectural and woodworking techniques. The Japanese core values are implied, and it cares to the details of woodwork. Our products will present a Japanese style of architecture. More than that, by the using techniques, the houses and furniture we build can withstand seismic activities.
Technology - Tategu
Earthquakes plague Japan, and therefore these natural disasters have had a profound impact on the values of the Japanese people. Over hundreds of years, their architectural and woodworking techniques been developed to withstand seismic activity. The Japanese word ‘Tategu’ refers to the wood structures in Japanese style houses such as door, windows and cupboard. Japanese use a special technique of joinery to adjoining two pieces of wood and build up wood structures. Although the structure built in wood, it stand firm and still even after earthquake occur. There are historical temples in Japan built hundreds years ago and still hold still today. It shows that the technique is reliable when compare to modern building technique.
Customers and market needs
The reason our team purpose this business idea is because we discover the Japanese architectural techniques can benefit to people in other countries. Therefore, the target customers we serve include local Japanese people and people live in seismic zone, especially those in the rural area.
We observed there are needs for our products as the fact that people around the world suffer from earthquake from time to time and the massive destruction bring losses to them. Hence, our company provide a good alternative way to provide low cost home and furniture for them. Our products and service is most suitable for places with low population density, like rural areas, as we are building houses, not buildings.
Moreover, our products and service also fit into the wood furniture industry that already exist. There are customers favor in wooden furniture and houses, especially people in Asian countries. Our products fit them well and we has Japanese style as we unique features.
Production
A production line including design teams and production factory will be set up in Japan. All our products will be produce in Japan and sell in domestic market as well as export to oversea countries.
As mentioned in our company goals, we aim to develop house-building teams in our target countries. For every targeted countries, we will organize at least one team consist of architectural professionals and local experts to facilitate communication in providing home building service.
To sum up the human resource we need, they include
- Executive Architects: A team of skilled Architects with experience working with traditional techniques, such as on temples or in traditional furniture design
They will be responsible for designing our products and imparting that knowledge onto or skilled laborers
- Skilled Labor: They require, to certain extent of experience of woodworking, home construction, or furniture making. Japanese workers are preferred but not compulsory.
- Marketing Team: individuals with sales experience in their host country. Real estate sales is preferred.
- Administrators: Native Japanese speakers to in charge operation.
