affects the customers. I would say they have learned a lesson from the first crisis, and with what they have learn, now it is helping them grow.
Crisis Stage
A crisis may progress as time goes; it has been considered that there are four distinctive stages in a crisis, a prodromal crisis stage, an acute crisis stage, a chronic crisis stage, and a crisis resolution stage (Carroll & Buchholtz, 2015, p. 163). In my opinion, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream is not in the crisis resolution stage. A crisis resolution stage is the final stage of a crisis progress; it means the crisis has been under control. From all the researches I have done, I am confident to say that Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream has the crisis under control.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream showed us a successful crisis management with the Listeria issue. The management team conducted a very transparent communication with the consumers and media; they acted immediately after the crisis. They worked with authorities and experts proactively during the crisis to identify the areas of vulnerability. By placing consumer safety as its top priority, Jeni’s do not lose any supports from its customers and partners. The management team delegate tasks efficiently, and they use the experience they have learned from this crisis to apply to their future planning. Therefore, it helps them to catch the second Listeria incident before it goes to production. It also reflects the importance of preparation for crisis. Jeni’s did not withhold any information, and acknowledge the issues with the public proactively; it shows their strong interest of the public and care about public health. I think this crisis is a turning point for them to get even better.
