USE OF GPS IN AGRICULTURE

Systems that guide the crop

These systems generally have a sensor that constantly measures the final weight of the crop. These sensors are generally located at a convenient location from which the measurement can be done easily. The magnitude of the pressure force tells us the weight of the crop or the yield. Simultaneously the grain is also reviewed for the amount of water present in it . Width of the header is generally not entered automatically and the moving velocity is measured by another sensor. A special screen is used to display the information and it can be sent to workplace for further study and computations. General standardization from time to time is required to nullify the effect of variable test conditions. The basic ingredients of a plotting system generally includes the following:

- A device that gets the GPS signals from the space satellites.

- A sensor that finds out the volume of crop output

- A sensor that measures the travelling speed.

- A sensor that measures the amount of water present in the yield

- A system that measures the consistency of flow of grains

- A system that does the task of tabulating the data.

Before using any sensor it must be taken care that it properly standardized otherwise the results would not be correct. This standardization only converts the signals to useful properties. All the sensor data is recorded as a function that varies with the time. This data can also be displayed on the screen using appropriate software.

Analysing plots

Various softwares can be used to show the yield at every point. However various corrections need to be applied as flow of particles through a combine is not a real time process rather it is delayed one. To reduce such mistakes the data is moved so that the effect of delay can be minimized.

Permanent deletion of the points as well as moving of the data points is the basic procedure that is followed to remove the errors.

Machinery Control Systems

The precise breadths are maintained by the use of computer controlled systems and such systems remove the need for human intervention. An imaginary circle or a line can be established with the use of automated systems. The Automated System takes consideration the breadth and then makes use of positioning data to direct the machinery. The automated systems consists of a demonstration module which makes use of colourful electric guidance or phonic guidance. These kinds of systems makes possible the maintenance of required displacement from earlier area. There are two main items that come under automated systems a display which shows deviation from probable coordinate and a system that records the coordinates. A specially designed system for this task needs to be operated at greater cycles per seconds. The system that record the coordinates can be used along-with display system. Computer systems emulsify coordinate finding ability into steering system.

Plotting of the farm using positioning system

Advancement in the positioning system is useful in the location and plot regions of high amounts of pesticides and weeds. Various landmarks such as trees, railway lines, drains, manholes ,rocks etc can also be saved for times in the future. Positioning systems are useful in the mapping of the farm and its various features. In various software systems different layers of map are added for added information. The information in different layers can also be compared for gaining additional information .

Applications related to the inputs of crop

The mapping advancement is useful to alter the input rate in the farm , this input can be with respect to the seeds or fertilizers or water. The flexible rate method needs a system that can provide the position accurately. Various instruments can also be made to vary different things simultaneously. This method is quite useful to control the rate application of seeds , insecticides , herbicides etc.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Testing of soil

The main job of the farmers is to collect various samples and send them to the computer lab for the verification of certain parameters. The programs are made on the basis of inferences from these tests. A mineral map can be easily developed if the position of each sample is known. These mineral maps are quite helpful to show the variation of minerals in the field. Various algorithms are also formed based on these minerals maps. Automated systems can come in handy to spread the fertilizers in the farm.

Plantation of crops

The idea of flexible rate is also useful in the area of plantation. The automated systems can actually be quite useful to vary the amount of seeds that have to be sown. Constant research and development is taking place in this field and we are getting positive results out of this. Another unique idea which in the works is the ability to power off planting process in those areas where it is not feasible.

Spraying

Automated systems can also be used to vary the velocity of the sprinkler. In this case also flexible maps can be made and various machinery can be used to control the position and speed of the machine. Various shut down valves can also be used to avoid wastage of various ingredients. The airplanes that fly over the field also use positioning systems for the guidance throughout the farm.

CONCLUSION

In the current world , the advancements in the field of precise farming is completely
