Technological Factors

Intel has a very significant competitive disadvantage in the mobile processor market as they mainly focus on processor market for desktop / laptop products. They should pick up the pace on developing smaller and more energy efficient mobile processor to compete with competitors such as Qualcomm and Samsung. High pace technological advancement results in rapid life cycle of products nowadays, pushes companies to invest, research and develop their products much faster and better. This is ultimately to fulfill customers wants and needs in a timely manner. Wireless technology has become essential in electronic and communication industry. Intel must get along and keep track with the evolving technology. Otherwise, company may be facing a situation where there are shortages in technical skills, innovation and productivity lowered, ultimately lead to a change in value and expectation of customers to the company.

Legal Factors

International patents protection need to be improvised to provide protections to intellectual properties of companies include Intel so that the design of their products does not fall in wrong hands, maintaining their advantage in a competitive environment. Competitive regulations has been practiced to banish monopoly act. With the rise of AMD in the similar market share, Intel which previously a considered monopoly in computing processor industry, slowly feeling the threat from AMD in providing processor for devices such as Windows laptop, tablets and Personal Computers. Lastly, wastage disposal regulations have been tightening to face the rise of e-wastage that may harm the environment if not properly handled. Therefore, Intel needs to address the regulations properly and comes up with a more environmental friendly product design, as well as methods and ways to deal with products’ end-of-life stage, improvising reduce, reuse and recycle the materials.
