Step one will be interviews with the corporate division as well as meetings with the department heads of the affected departments to better understand what they are working with and need more of in the new IT system. This of course will be a valuable information gathering event and will be the launch for the second step in the gathering of information.

Step two will be discussions with the managers within the departments on the ground level, although we will not be able to do this in every location, there will be conference calls Via video feed to address the findings of the department heads and to gain more information on the ground level. It is the hope that this will ensure a fluid scope of the system.

Step three will be a survey sent out to Department managers listing the information gained and allows their input of the level of importance of each requirement. This will allow the system to be built around the most important features first and then we give the opportunity to leadership to start plugging in the holes with lesser objectives and wants.

Key factors to gather information:

This is where we look at the old system and compare it to what is needed now in addition to, or upgrading the current task of their system with-in the new one. This point is very important that all involved know what they have and know what they require from their system. It as well is a requirement that all information pertaining to the gathering of needs and desires for the system are turned in with the allotted time frames. This ensures that all aspects will be able to be give the required consideration from all involved.

Project scope:

As outlined in the service request SR-rm-022, the project is updating the HR department for Riordan Manufacturing in hopes to streamline their Human Resources department. With this implemented the department will find a smooth cohesion between all locations and within its own walls.

The areas of project feasibility that will be examined will be handled in the SDLC (System Development Life Cycle) during the planning (which we are entering now). The analysis phase will take place during the information gathering part. From this we will begin to move into the development phase which will be covered in the next correspondence.
