they don¡¯t have enough food for themselves and for their family. They wouldn¡¯t be able to pay for the mortgage for their house. They would find all sorts of ways to raise money for them to gamble, including illegal activities. Many of them wrote bad checks or stealing from people who are close to them. Their relationship turned bad, since they are continuously lying and breaking commitment about gambling. People around them found out that they are not longer trustworthy. They would angry for the fact that they are keep losing, so their families become the victim of domestic violence. Their mental health has damaged as well, they would have a higher risk on other psychiatric problems. For instance, drug use, mood and anxiety disorder or personality disorder. Later in their life, many of them would regret on themselves. Gambling is one of the suicidal ideation, gamblers are desperate to their lives so they are planning to end their life this way. Data has shown that the suicide rate in Las Vegas is the highest in the whole US.

Suggestions:

1. Control the gambler¡¯s finance. Making sure that they don¡¯t have the access of the money or minimum access of the money. This would make sure that there is enough to pay food and bills.

2. Ask for professions help. There are free counseling services available in Australia. They would provide help and suggestions for people to overcome gambling. There are also support group available, such as Gamblers Anonymous (Gam-Anon).

Conclusion:

Although gambling is a common leisure activity for Australian, it can lead to an addiction, which is a major social issue in Australia. Gambling addiction will destroy a person and cause that person to suffer the lost of relationship and hard earn money. However, there are helps available and gambler can be recovered by the help of specialists.
