In order to explain how my perception of health care have changed over the course of my program I will have to explain why I started my program. I currently work in a long term care facility and have seen how things are run and heard the complaints from the residents. There have been some things that I have seen that I felt could be done differently and so I decided to go to school to become an administrator and gain the knowledge to be able to make a difference. During my program I have learned all of the ins and outs of health care as a whole and it was a shock to me how many different parts of health care there are. I have also learned a new respect for those who work in health care. The classes that I have taken have given me a new resolve to become the best administrator that I can be. The things that have had the most significant impact on me are all of the things that are included in building and running a health care facility. It helped me to gain a proper understanding of what is going to be expected on me once I become and administrator and a new respect for those who are already running a facility.

The role that technology will play in health care organizations in the coming decade is not certain at this point but it is expected to be a very important part of health care. Predictive health is going to be a very important part of the future of health care. According to Marberry (2012), " We’re also seeing the advancement of nanotechnology and more use of telemedicine and home monitoring equipment to observe and treat patients, including “do-it-yourself” diagnostic apps for smart phones/tablets.” Ultimately this means that the size of hospitals may become smaller but they will need space that will support the use of these new technologies. They are predicting that our homes will now become extensions of our physician’s offices. They are hoping that this will create better communication between us and our primary care physicians.

The main economic and financial issues that will affect the health care industry in the next ten years is that by 2015 the GDP (Gross Domestic Product) in the United States when looking a health care spending will reach four trillion dollars which is 20% of the GDP. Due to this fact it is not surprising that these dramatic increases in health care spending is causing a negative impact on the economy in the United States which is causing the government to make drastic changes, for example the fines that are being imposed on those who do not have health insurance. This is not going to make anything better with the economy but it is going to make things harder on those who have to make a choice between putting a roof over their families head and food on the table and health insurance. According to "The Effect Of Health Care Cost Growth On The U.s. Economy" (n.d.), " But a contrary view suggests that health care spending has a neutral or positive effect on the economy by raising incomes and employment for workers in the health sector and by increasing the labor market productivity of workers. Either way we look at things health care spending has become a serious issue in the U.S. and our government needs to find a way to create a health care system that is balanced and provides coverage for everyone.
