environment:
Ayurvaid was in the mode of expanding business, with the funds they have raised it rapidly expanded to other cities. It was too much experimenting to understand the market and establish themselves as a profitable business. They setup with different formats based on the locations. E.g. AyurVAID was setup as a daycare hospital in Chennai and Bangalore whereas a low income based hospital in Dharavi, Mumbai. However keeping the growth and revenue in mind, Vasudevan has closed down the small facilities and decided to focus only on metros keeping a strategic Hub and spoke model in mind in order to reach out to correct patients in the most effective way. In the process of this set up they have realized following and following changes were to be made:
Insurance: Ayurveda was not accepted under insure payments. Acceptance of Ayurvedic treatment for insurance coverage and cashless payments.
Diagnosis: Integration with modern medicines and tools such as lab test, scans etc.
Documentation: Detailed documentations and case reports
Organize: Use of IT to maintain customer data to understand demographics, disease and treatment pattern
Ayurvaid plan to grow:
There would be a raise of 40 million diabetic patient in India from year 2010 to 2030. Even considering high amount of awareness and marketing for Ayurvedic, it is not necessary that most of the patients would prefer AyurVAID as a treatment option.
Apart from diabetes, other NCD diseases can be cured by ayurveda completely. AyurVAID has experience in treating all kind of diseases and has executed operation as multi-specialty hospital. Hence they should not completely remove their focus from their vision by moving into only diabetic specialty segment.
Ayurvaid should follow its existing Hub and Spoke model. They have implemented the same in Bangalore. It has invested in different centers. Due to market conditions it proving themselves in its strengths will help it create a better visibility, now since it has specialization in diabetics it should follow 80:20 principle in this domain. It should setup one of its daycare centers only for Diabetic patient and other day center as multi-specialty day care center. This will not only help it distinguish from its competitors but will also help it to change the perception of the Ayurveda medicine.
