around them from focusing and having a good learning environment. According to an article I read from the CTV news tittles, “keep laptops out of lecture halls, professor says”, it stated that 85 per cent of students that attended the lectures were doing unrelated things. Therefore Laptop use in class really distracting.
Being a university student and knowing how high the tuition fees are we should be studying properly using the best methods and definitely not forgetting the main goal of graduating on time. My friend in third year told me that she used her laptop for one of her management classes and she failed that class since she got distracted and did not focus well in the lectures. Starting in second year the tuition fees increase and if you do not change the way you study, the end result is terrible. In my experience I know my parents pay for my tuitions as their daughter I have to prove I deserve what they are doing for me. Since I know laptops do not benefit in class I will refrain myself from them.
Despite technology making our lives easier in every way possible some technologies such as the use of laptops in classroom environments do not benefit students. Knowing about the new research that has been conducted students who take notes by hand do better than students who type their notes using a laptop since they pay close attention and summarize what they heard. Laptops cause distractions for others as well us yourself because students won’t be attentive in class. Also paying high tuition fees in class should be enough motivation to do well in university and by doing that is actually by not getting distracted and paying close attention in class. Therefore CCT109 students should not be allowed to use laptops in lectures.
