b. Is a CPS referral warranted? Yes it is warranted due April being her sister’s fulltime caregiver and neither parent is able to look after the kids the father works and the mother is suffers from depression and sleeps a lot.
c. What are community referrals that will help this family? The mom can go thru a counseling program to get help with the Department of health. The kids can attend afterschool programs, they also can attend family counseling. Whatever the mom is going thru is affecting the whole family. If they have family attends the counseling will help understand what the mom is going thru.

a. Which level of Bronfenbrenner’s theory is most applicable in this case scenario? Macrosystem: Bronfenbrenner refers to the Macrosystem as the cultural context in which a person lives (SES, poverty, ethnicity). The reason why this theory was choosen they are African American twin boys age 15 years old. They have grown up in a poor neighborhood (compton) where crime is high, and poverty is the norm.
b. What are Mikey’s values? What are his strengths? Mikey’s values are that even growing up in a poor neighborhood, where crime is high and poverty is the norm. He is determined to stay in school so he won’t become another statistic. He shows determination and he has passion and responsibility with these strengths he will be able to overcome the obstacles that are in his way.
c. What boundaries can be helpful for Mikey? The boundaries that should be set for Mikey I would set up tutoring sessions for the subjects he is failing. This will help him improve his grade average and maybe want to go to college. I would set a curfew for him to teach him responsibility. As an African male Mikey needs boundaries set for him this will help him in the long run. If he doesn’t follow the boundaries set I would talk to him and let him know there would be a form of punishment or he will lose some of his privileges.
d. Are there any community organizations (in his area) that will be helpful in providing him with structure? Compton Pipeline Taskforce this program helps children in Compton this program works with students who are underrepresented students it focuses on brings awareness of educational opportunities that are available to them, mentoring and instill cultural pride and teaches empowerment in the community. Big Brother Big Sister program helps student build more confidence in their school work performance, they teach them skills to help build better relationships within their family, mentoring the students with someone within the community. They take the child under the wing and spend time with them and let them know they have other options of becoming better people in their community. They do not have to join gangs or do drugs. That leads to death. They can have a better future by going to school and making something of themselves.
